CHICAGO, IL The discovery hearing to authenticate the certificate of Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was yesterday assigned to U.S District Judge Jeffrey T. Gilbert and a directive to Chicago State University (CSU) to respond by August 23, 2023 to the application filed by former Nigeria’s vice president Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.
Atiku is seeking all records of Tinubu at the university along with CSU’s responses to the various subpoenas, academic and attendance records of Tinubu at the university.
The university had urged Atiku to secure a release from appropriate federal and state authorities before such documents could be released before President Tinubu approached the court to be joined in the court proceedings..
“My interests are not fully represented or protected by Chicago State University (CSU), which would be affected if not permitted to join or intervene” in the court proceedings, Tinubu said.
Atiku would again respond to CSU motion by September 6, 2023, thereby cancelling the earlier deposition date set for August 30, 2023 at Atiku attorney’s office located at 35 W. Wacker Dr, Suite 3400 in Chicago.
The former Nigerian leader had on August 4, 2023 presented 15-exhibits in a subpoena motion against CSU for a discovery hearing to verify the certificate, academic and attendance records of President Bola Tinubu who graduated at the school in 1979.
The exhibits includes testimonies, motions, two versions of President Bola Tinubu’s certificates and the disparities between the various evidences Tinubu, PDP, INEC and APC presented at the Nigeria’s Courts of Appeals serving as the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja, Nigeria.
Seven additional documents of “all diplomas issued to President Tinubu by CSU, his CSU’s attendance records, as well as “documents sufficient to reflect the format, contents, and certification of CSU diplomas issued by CSU for B.S. degrees from 1979, and any modifications to the format, contents, and certification of CSU diplomas from 1979 to the present.”
